Meaningful Worship

One of our highest values at High Desert Church is to help believers engage in Meaningful Worship. The Bible frames worship this way:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:1-2

This passage is not describing a worship service, it’s describing a worshipful life and that is most important. We honor God in the ways we think about Him, the ways we feel about Him and the way we mimic His holiness. If you think the wrong things about God, you will come to the wrong conclusions about everything in your life. So the events we conduct on all of our campuses each weekend are called worship services because they allow us the chance to reset the way we think, feel and strategize. They help create a life of worship!

So how is “Meaningful Worship” expressed on each of our locations?

Music: Every weekend, at each of our locations, a talented group of musicians help us praise God through an impassioned, high-energy worship experience.

Teaching: Each weekend the pastors on our teaching team lead us through a teaching series designed for our spiritual growth and encouragement. We emphasize the challenging and practical teaching of God’s word believing that God will use it to inspire us, transform us, and equip us to be more effective at reaching our relational worlds for Christ.

Kids and Students: Each of our locations provides ministry for birth through high school. While each campus handles the details a little differently, the bottom line is that your child or student will learn about Jesus in a safe and encouraging environment.

Spiritual Support: Sometimes life doesn’t go the way that we may have planned or we find ourselves in the midst of the consequences of poor decisions. Sometimes we just need to refocus our efforts on areas in life that need strengthening. Our Lifepath classes are designed to target specific areas of spiritual growth that will help you mature in your walk with God and make you more of a blessing to your relational world.
While each of these elements are important and beneficial to your walk with Christ, remember that Meaningful Worship is only one of the Three Meaningfuls. There is great benefit in cultivating Meaningful Relationships through a Small Group and serving through a Meaningful Role.

Choosing a Location

One of the things you’ll find out quickly around High Desert Church is that there are multiple locations. This isn’t so you don’t have to drive across the desert to attend church (though that is nice!). The primary reason we have multiple locations is so your relational world doesn’t have to drive across the desert. In fact, chances are, your relational world won’t be very interested in attending church if it takes them 30 minutes just to get there! With that in mind, we encourage you to choose a location not based on your own convenience, but based on the convenience of those people God has put in your life to minister to.
