YA Mentor Couples

Why it matters. Young adults need trusted, stable, spiritually mature adults in their corner — people a season ahead of them who can be relied on, asked the hard questions, and pointed to. Mentor couples are the relational backbone of this ministry. You’re not here to manage volunteers; you’re here to disciple people and help the room feel like family.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be a consistent, known presence on Thursday nights (5:30–9:30pm)
  • Be available for mentorship and relational investment — especially for those too shy to ask
  • Own or oversee a YA serving team: shepherd the people on it, don’t just cover the task
  • Support Rooted facilitation on Tuesday nights during the Rooted season
  • Show up for YA events and retreats across the year
  • Help young adults take next steps — toward baptism, membership, Rooted, and the wider church
  • Know your limits — refer deeper care to a pastor, Genesis counseling, or other support when it’s beyond a mentoring relationship

COMMITMENT

  • Cadence: Weekly
  • Thursdays: present 5:30–9:30pm
  • Tuesdays: Rooted groups during the Rooted season
  • Plus: YA events and retreats throughout the year

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A married couple, spiritually mature and walking closely with Jesus
  • A stable, healthy marriage that models something worth watching
  • Relationally warm and approachable — supportive without being controlling
  • A real heart for the next generation and for disciple-making
  • Roughly a decade or more past young adulthood

BEFORE YOU SERVE

  • Baptized followers of Jesus
  • Members of HDC
  • Committed to confidentiality and to honoring the YA leadership structure
